This article documented serious health issues that many Western North Carolina Hispanics are dealing with. Many do not receive needed care because of economic and language issues. They simply cannot afford preventive care that families like mine take for granted. They are intimidated because they fear they will not be understood. Local Hispanics are younger than the population as a whole and the younger ones have the same lack of awareness about health care that most younger people have.”
