Spanish writer Alvaro Pombo wins literary award

“Spanish writer Alvaro Pombo has won Spain’s most lucrative literary award, the Premio Planeta, for a novel about a woman’s transition from homemaker to financier following the death of her husband.

Pombo, 67, has won many important literary awards throughout his career and this time will collect €600,000 (US$755,000) for a book entitled “La Fortuna de Matilda Turpin” (“Matilda Turpin’s Fortune”).”
