“As part of its 12-city nationwide tour, the Celebra La Vida Con Salud, national Hispanic health campaign, made a stop in San José today to help educate area Hispanics about disease prevention and treatment of major illnesses disproportionately impacting the U.S. Hispanic population. Through its unique public-private partnerships, Celebra provided information on nutrition, treatment and prevention of the various health disparities and provided thousands of free medical screenings to festival participants.
While Hispanics represent approximately 14% of the current U.S. population, they suffer disproportionately high rates of several preventable illnesses and diseases including HIV/AIDS, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, stroke, and some cancers. “
