The opposite sides of the road: Colorado Minutemen

“On this day in late September, however, about five Colorado Minutemen accompanied them, recording “the problem of the illegals” on their video cameras. The group’s mission is to get enough information to show concrete evidence to the police and other law enforcement agencies.

Across the street, a couple dressed in sport clothes point their video cameras and record the events. Both resemble tourists in an area where low-income Latinos are the majority.

The day-workers know too well who they are, and their presence seems to cause them anguish as much as anger. Some cannot stand it and scream obscenities in English and Spanish. They are furious because Kent and Jacke Lazo have evidence of how that Friday, dozens of employers went there to pick day-workers as if they were tools from a hardware store”
