“When Colombian band Aterciopelados’ new album, Oye, hits stores Oct. 24, it will have spent time being marketed on television in Los Angeles, a first for independent record label Nacional Records. The advertising campaign links mass retailer Target, which will carry the CD, with the album in spots to air on bilingual youth network LATV. It premieres Oct. 17 and will run about four weeks.

The new push is a sign of the times as music sales decline at traditional record stores. Tower Records currently is in bankruptcy, with the retailer sold to Great American Group for an aggregate of $150 million, including the sale of various leases and properties, according to The Associated Press. Virgin Music Stores also has shuttered several of its stores.”
