Musical group keeps Spanish tradition alive - La Tuna de West Palm Beach, Florida

“In this case, La Tuna has nothing to do with the chunks of fish we occasionally scoop out of cans and mix with mayonnaise. It is a type of musical group created by struggling Spanish university students about 500 years ago.

Today, these musicians are no longer starving, and they are no longer only in Spain. They have branched out to bring traditional Spanish-language music to the masses. There’s even one in Palm Beach County - La Tuna de West Palm Beach. They will perform their version of the traditional repertoire at the Palm Beach County Library west of Delray Beach as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, which ends this weekend.”
