Immigrant organizers list 16,000 new voters – Chicago area, Illinois

“Immigrant advocates said Monday that they had registered more than 16,000 voters in recent months, part of a call for naturalized citizens to “march to the polls” in November.

Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski, a board trustee in Carpentersville, which is currently debating an ordinance that would penalize landlords and employers working with illegal immigrants, said naturalized citizens must follow their street marches by voting for the interests of all immigrants.”
