“As a leading member of Utah’s emerging Latino art scene, Guillermo Colmenero taught children’s art workshops while displaying his skeletal sculptures at galleries and arts festivals across the Wasatch Front.
So members of Utah’s visual-art community were stunned Wednesday to learn that Colmenero, despite being married to an American citizen, is no longer a legal United States resident and faces imminent deportation to his native Mexico. The sculptor is being held at the Weber County jail in Ogden after federal immigration officers arrested him Friday at his job at a Sandy dental lab. “
