“A woman who owns a Latino market in Anderson is one of 10 Latina entrepreneurs from the nation honored by Wells Fargo Bank, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Latina Style magazine.

Evangelina Mendoza, 49, owner of Mercado Latino/Handy Helpers, received a $5,000 cash grant for winning the 2006 Anna Maria Arias Memorial Fund Award. The award is named after the late founder of the 150,000-circulation Latina Style magazine, which is aimed at Hispanic professional working women.”
