“The health fair marked the beginning of Binational Health Week, a nationwide effort led by local organizations to improve the health of underserved Hispanics. Binational Health Week is a program of the California-Mexico Health Initiative that began in seven counties in 2001. Last year, 231 towns in 27 states sponsored activities to promote health among Hispanic immigrants.

More than 500 people registered for free health screenings at St. Joseph’s on Sunday. In addition, 100 tetanus shots were given and a doctor answered health-related questions.”
