“Danbury area employers who knowingly hire undocumented immigrants could be targeted next by federal immigration agents who last month arrested 11 illegal day laborers looking for work at a downtown gathering place.

“This is part of increased national enforcement and is not unique to Danbury,” Mayor Mark Boughton said of the arrests, part of the government’s “Return to Sender” effort to deport illegal immigrants. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials arrested 11 Ecuadorians after the laborers climbed into an unmarked ICE van for what they thought was a day job. Instead, they were taken to Hartford for processing and deportation.”
