“The group is a not-for-profit that started back in 1993 but has grown by leaps and bounds to keep up with Staten Island’s fast-growing Latino population.

“It’s a culture shock when you come into another country and the way of life is so completely different from where you come from,” said Latino Civic Association vice president Carmen Gravagna. “
