“The taped confession, obtained by The Dallas Morning News, represents the latest chapter in a 13-year mystery surrounding the sexually motivated slayings of more than 100 women here in Juarez.

Granados is at the center of the latest investigation, in which he casts blame on two other buddies.

His confession led to the arrest last August in Denver of 30-year-old Edgar Alvarez Cruz, whom Granados names as the instigator of the crimes. U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza hailed the arrest of Alvarez as a “major breakthrough” in the Juarez murders.”
