“The unemployment rate for Hispanics in the United States has dropped to a historic low, driven largely by nearly a million Latinos entering the construction industry, according to a report released Wednesday.
The rate declined to 5.2 percent in the second quarter of 2006, just 0.6 of a percentage point above the rate for non-Hispanics. That’s the lowest rate since 1973, when data on Latinos first became available, according to the report released by the Pew Hispanic Center.”
