Telenovela, Nuestro Barrio, to explore American dream’s perils

“Greed, jealousy, love, hope and a fire will be central in a new telenovela that debuts Wednesday in Phoenix.

But the story lines that entwine several Hispanic families seeking to live the American dream will have a large dose of financial education. Topics such as predatory lending, insurance, home buying and credit-card debt are interwoven into plots that feature a feud among business owners, romantic temptations and spouse abandonment.
