“Hispanics are a major influence on Illinois politics. About seven-percent of state legislators are Hispanic.

The general assembly in the state of Illinois is made up of a 59 member senate and a 118 member house. Illinois now has four Hispanic state senators and eight Latino representatives. Nearly two years ago, Senator Miguel Del Valle was the first Latino elected to the Illinois senate.”
