New America Media Summit Spotlights Multiple Fronts of Immigrant Rights Movement

“Over 125 immigrant rights advocates and ethnic media practitioners met in Los Angeles last week to discuss how to improve communications within the immigrant rights movement. The broad representation of participants, from Mississippi to Minnesota, from Massachusetts to California, underscored the scope of the movement while speakers provided vivid snapshots of its multiple fronts.

Keynote speaker Sergio Bendixen, a pioneer in national multi-lingual polling, sounded a strong note of optimism on the future of immigration and the immigrant vote in the United States. Bendixen described “irreversible” demographic statistics and a united ethnic media as the great vehicle for communication and mobilization.”
