“You are a spokesperson for your company, representing it for public speaking and media interviews. You are going about your everyday affairs, granting media interviews on a new product or service your company launched or a timely topic of general interest. All is going well and a Hispanic media representative calls. What should you do?
Should you respond to the request as you do with other general market requests? If you are wondering about the reach and importance of Latino media and Latino audiences nationwide, note that Hispanic buying power is estimated at around $700 billion a year and increasing rapidly. At the risk of stereotyping, remember Latinos are loyal buyers, especially for high ticket items, spend more than mainstream and other minority market buyers on basic products and like to purchase the best they can afford.”

“In story after story after story, reporters, experts and critics, of the 700-mile fence approved by House Republicans, point out how futile and a waste of money this “symbolic” monument to border security really is.
But, hey. It makes House Republicans feel good and that’s what it’s all about in the end anyway.
What do they care if they waste taxpayer’s money? After all, this is the same group that spent untold hundreds or thousands of dollars and man-hours on the so-called “fact-finding” mission over the summer.”

A wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is meant to secure only one thing: the re-election of members of Congress.
“The congressional pre-election ploy of pushing construction of a border fence to make voters believe something is being done about immigration reform is a farce.
Leaders of the Tohono O’odham Nation oppose a fence. Others deride it as an environmental nightmare. And still others with experience along the border say a fence simply will not work.”

Some of the most innovative recent recordings in that style are to be found in retailers’ world music sections. In the past few weeks, three South American women — Peru’s Susana Baca, Argentina’s Juana Molina and Brazil’s Cibelle — have released stellar …”

“The border crackdown on illegal immigration from Mexico is creating a black market in workers who are vulnerable to violence and exploitation, a high-ranking Mexican diplomat said Tuesday.
“We have a moral obligation to prevent unnecessary death and exploitation of hard-working people,” Alfonso de Maria y Campos told an audience gathered at Ohlone College to hear the diplomat address U.S.-Mexico relations.”
Did You Know? In California, for example, 99 percent of agriculture workers are of Mexican origin, Campos said, adding that the wine industry would collapse without their labor.
