“Mario Vazquez upset the American Idol applecart just a little in 2005 when he quit the show after becoming a finalist. He said at the time that he had left for family reasons. But in August, with his record deal secured and his first single, Gallery, on the way, Vazquez told a different story during a visit to MTV’s Total Request Live: He wanted more control over his music.”
