Book tells story of mostly Latino Jets soccer team – Durham, North Carolina

Tagged: ,

“Paul Cuadros came to Chatham County in 1999 to research a story about the growing Latino community in the Southeast.

Instead, he ended up writing a book about a high school soccer team, with himself as one of the main characters.

In the face of opposition from school administrators in a town where football and an anti-immigrant mentality long had ruled, Cuadros convinced Siler City’s Jordan-Matthews High School to start a boys’ soccer program. “
