Hispanic Heritage Month was created to recognize our community’s achievements and contributions. When it first was celebrated in 1968, it was only a week long.

In 1988, it was expanded to 30 days when it was recognized that with our growing numbers it would take more than a week to celebrate all that Latinos had accomplished.”
