“The Board of Directors of The Latino Coalition (TLC) today repeated its request for a meeting with Argentine President Nestor Kirchner to discuss his country’s $20 billion in outstanding sovereign debt during his time in New York this week for the United Nations General Assembly meetings. A letter of invitation sent to President Kirchner last month has received no response.
The Latino Coalition has identified three primary topics of concern: Argentina’s recent political alliance and financial dependence on Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, President Kirchner’s recent announcement of an ambitious eight year nuclear program and the status of over $20 billion in delinquent sovereign debt owed to investors worldwide in the wake of Argentina’s historic 2001 default.
