“While proposals to abate the flow of illegal immigration resonate throughout Washington, D.C., filmmakers are amplifying the voices of Mexican women enterprising on cultural trades to generate income and keep their families in their home country.

The documentary “Milagros: Made in Mexico” shows the sociological and financial benefits that small loans from nongovernmental aid organizations, such as the World Bank, have on the lives of women and their families in small rural communities in the Bajio region of Mexico. The film was directed and produced by 4 Women In Film, a cooperative of women filmmakers based in Durham, N.C.”
