“Leading the Mexican folk music revival in the United States puts Sones de Mexico in a unique position to embrace old traditions in a new way.
“The thing about this music is that few people play it here in the United States, but a lot of people are familiar with it, because they grew up with it,” said Juan Dies, bassist and business manager for the popular Chicago band, which specializes in “son” music that encompasses a variety of traditional Mexican roots music.”
