“The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) announced today Yisel Cabrera will join CHLI as new program manager. She will help to develop, implement and evaluate CHLI’s public policy initiatives and the highly competitive Ford CHLI Leadership Program. This program brings university students from across the country to work in the nation’s capital.
“We are fortunate to have Yisel join us on staff and look forward to her leadership as we continue to grow and expand our organization,” said Octavio Hinojosa, CHLI Executive Director.
“I am delighted to join such an impressive organization committed to the advancement of the U.S. Hispanic community,” said Cabrera, “CHLI has a great future, and I am excited to be part of it.”
Prior to joining CHLI, Cabrera was a project coordinator at the Self Reliance Foundation. She was responsible for coordinating the daily operations of a Celebra la Ciencia — a science education outreach project with a $3 million budget funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
Cabrera graduated from the University of Tampa in Florida with B.A. in Government and World Affairs and a minor in International Relations. A native of Cuba and raised in Florida, Cabrera is passionate about advancing and empowering the U.S. Hispanic community. “
