“The Garden City activities start Friday evening with a Fiesta Queen pageant, continue Saturday with a full slate of food, music and other events, and conclude Sunday. Activities in Dodge City are set for Sunday.

Dodge City’s version of Mexican Independence Day celebrations is newer than Garden City’s. Norma Madrid-Gomez of the Regional Latino Affairs Council said city leaders approached the advocacy group about organizing this year’s installment, in part to foster increased communication between Anglos and Hispanics.”
