“A decade ago, more than 90 percent of Gwinnett County’s voters were white. Now, as the county undergoes a demographic transformation, nearly a third of its registered voters are members of ethnic minorities.

Gwinnett has registered nearly six times as many black, Latino, Asian and other minority voters as it did 10 years ago, according to state voter registration statistics released this month. Since 2001, the county has added more minority voters to its rolls than any other metro Atlanta county.

Whites still make up the largest group of registered Gwinnett voters, but politicians are responding to the shifts in voter registration.”
