Latina Lista: Schwarzenegger’s Remarks about Latina Colleague Highlight Sexual Racism in Latino Culture

“California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger apologized today for basically attributing a political colleague’s temper to the fact she was a hot-blooded Latina.

In comments that he thought were off the record but recorded, and later obtained by the Los Angeles Times, Schwarzenegger said that Bonnie Garcia, the only Latina California Republican lawmaker, who happens to be of Puerto Rican descent, had “‘black blood’ mixed with ‘Latino blood’(which) equals ‘hot.’”"
