Knowledge is Power!

“THE visibility of Latin American and Latino art in the United States falls far short of mirroring the nation’s Spanish-speaking population. For that reason alone, it’s good to see two big, glossy showcases of Spanish and Latin American art coming up this fall. But they’re also likely to be prodigiously beautiful.

Anyone familiar with Spanish and Portuguese colonial art from the handful of sterling exhibitions in the last decade ”” notably those at the Brooklyn Museum and the Denver Art Museum ”” will be primed for “Treasures/Tesoros/Tesouros: The Arts in Latin America, 1492-1820,” opening at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sept. 20.”
