“The halls of West Elementary School are filled with diversity on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when students spend 30 minutes learning a new language.

“Hola, buenos de clase. Hola se McDonough,” are the first words of the Spanish lesson, and the beginning of 30 minutes of no English allowed. The 25 students in the two classes at the school are learning the language as part of a program funded by the federal government and the Mississippi Department of Education.”
