“The only national event honoring Latinas in the Armed Services, will take place tomorrow September 7, 2006 from 12:00-2:00 PM in the Presidential Ballroom of the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. The Luncheon of the 3rd annual National LATINA Symposium organized by LATINA Style Magazine will recognize Latina achievement in each branch of the armed forces.
Lt. Col.(Ret.) Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, the Founder and President of Educational Achievement Services, Inc. (EAS), will be the Keynote Speaker of the event entitled, “A Celebration of Latinas in the Armed Services Awards Luncheon”. Presented by the U.S. Department of Defense, the luncheon honors military and civilian Latinas from each branch of the armed forces. It begins with a Presentation of Colors, the National Anthem, and an Invocation. Remarks will then be given and a memorial tribute to fallen soldiers will be held. After lunch is served, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Castillo Kickbusch will give her keynote speech. The presentation of awards will follow. This year 11 women will be honored for serving their country. They are: Major Melissa Rodriguez and Ms. Ernestine Moya of the U.S. Army, Senior Chief Irene Rivera and Ms. Grace Gabaldon of the U.S. Navy, Sergeant Dilia Paredes and Ms. Sandra Pena Switzer of the U.S. Marine Corps, Technical Sergeant Marie L. Villegas of the U.S. Air Force, Sergeant Stephanie Valle of the National Guard Bureau, Lieutenant Pamela Garcia of the U.S. Coast Guard, and Ms. Famia Magana and Dr. Elizabeth Rodriguez-Johnson of the Defense Agencies. “
