“Latina achievement will be the topic of panels, sessions and activities at the third annual National LATINA Symposium organized by , set for September 7, 2006 from 8:00AM – 2:00 PM, at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.

Congresswomen Loretta Sanchez chairs the conference, which pays a special tribute during the luncheon awards ceremony to Latinas from every branch of the armed forces. The conference brings together Latinas from all parts of the country. Several workshops are scheduled that aim to recognize, celebrate and advance the Latina agenda. They include: “Celebrating Latina Leadership” moderated by Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano, with Lupita Colmenero””NAHP, Rosa Rosales””, Edie Fraser””Public Affairs Group Inc., and Marisa Rivera-Albert””NHLI as panelists; “Celebrating Latina Contributions in the Workplace” moderated by Jenny Sevilla Korn of the White House Office of Public Liaison and Archelle Georgiou, M.D.””Optum, UnitedHeathcare, Laura J. Hernandez””AT&T, Jessica P. Montoya””DaimlerChrysler Corporation, and Rosa Gist””McDonald’s as panelists; and “Celebrating Latina Entrepreneurship” moderated by Elizabeth Lisboa-Farrow””LISBOA, Inc., with Garza””Wal-Mart, Wilka Toppins””Toppins Law Firm, Martha Montoya””Los Kitos Entertainment LLC, and Angela De Jesus””ALPFA as panelists. Following the National LATINA Symposium, a national report will be generated and presented to national leaders, such as political establishments, business and education communities, colleges and universities, community groups and career centers in an effort to improve the status of Latinas in the workplace. “
