Hispanic buying power is growing at a faster clip than that of any other ethnic group in the nation and is about to eclipse that of African Americans

“This year Hispanic buying power nationally is projected to nearly even up with that of African Americans — at $798 billion compared with $799 billion. Next year, Hispanic buying power in the U.S. is expected to surpass African Americans’, according to the report. By 2011, it is expected to total nearly $1.2 trillion, a gain of more than 450 percent since 1990.

Businesses are responding. Mooresville-based Lowe’s Companies Inc. began putting Spanish-English signs in stores in 2004 and will have them in all its stores by year-end, said spokeswoman Karen Cobb.”
