“This year Hispanic buying power nationally is projected to nearly even up with that of African Americans — at $798 billion compared with $799 billion. Next year, Hispanic buying power in the U.S. is expected to surpass African Americans’, according to the report. By 2011, it is expected to total nearly $1.2 trillion, a gain of more than 450 percent since 1990.
Businesses are responding. Mooresville-based Lowe’s Companies Inc. began putting Spanish-English signs in stores in 2004 and will have them in all its stores by year-end, said spokeswoman Karen Cobb.”
