“Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools introduced its new chief academic officer Wednesday.

The position was created specifically for Ruth Perez, a former area superintendent in Orlando. Under her leadership from 2004 to 2006, standardized test scores in reading increased from 57 to 72 percent. Superintendent Peter Gorman is confident she can do the same thing at CMS.”
