Bush taps Laredoan for role: Martinez Tucker to become undersecretary of education

“A Laredo woman has been tapped by President Bush to serve as undersecretary of education. Bush announced this week his intention to nominate Sara Martinez Tucker, 51, to serve in his administration, according to a press release from the White House.

“I’ve always been very proud of her, desde chiquita,” said her mother, Viola Martinez. “She has always exceeded my expectations of her. I know she will excel in this new position.””
