“Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO - News) and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) today announced the establishment of the HSF/Marathon Scholarship Program, a five-year, more than $3 million commitment to provide scholarships and support for approximately 60 outstanding minority, full-time undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in earth sciences, engineering and a range of business-oriented curricula. Under this program, HSF will receive $1.7 million from Marathon to provide scholarships and support to the students selected. Marathon will provide an additional $1.3 million to provide internship opportunities and related support for these students.

The goals of the Marathon-funded program are to reduce the financial barriers for low income, academically-promising students, and increase the representation of minorities in targeted disciplines to ultimately enlarge Marathon’s entry-level pool of prospective employees.”
