“To many Fort Worthians and tourists who visit the Stock Yards in North Fort Worth probably envision the Cowtown Coliseum (a.k.a. Northside Coliseum) as a place where western rodeos have always been held. To some extent that is true, for it was at the Northside Coliseum where the first indoor rodeo was held in 1918. This historic structure, which was built around 1908, later became the home for the annual Southwestern and Exposition Livestock Show. Eventually, the event moved to the Will Rogers Coliseum where it is still held today.

For American Hispanics like me, who were born and raised in North Fort Worth and throughout the city, this grand old edifice holds many fond memories of the joyful and exciting weekly events which took place there for many years. “
