“Our is much too high — 40 to 50 percent,” she said of Latinos. “We’re losing half our kids before they leave high school. Unless we correct that, we’re creating a permanent underclass.”

“Cabral was the first in her to graduate from high school. She said she had never thought about going to college until a math pushed her, wrote out a college application for her, found scholarship money and visited her stubborn father to convince him she should go.

Cabral was the keynote speaker last night at a scholarship fundraising dinner in Harrisburg.”
