Memories revived at Alameda Theater in San Antonio, Texas
Tagged: Film, Reno, Theater“More than 15 years after it went black, the main screen at the iconic Alameda Theater flashed back to life Saturday with all the drama of Mexican cinema’s Golden Age.
As part of a push to renovate the 2,400-seat theater, the largest venue for Spanish language movies in the U.S., the art deco doors of the Alameda swung open for a rare screening of Mexican film classics.
“We’re providing San Antonio with a nostalgic glimpse of the past and an exciting look at the future,” said Ruth Medellin, executive director of Centro Alameda, the group overseeing the $20 million project.”
