“We know Hispanics are the largest minority group in the United States, representing one in every eight people in the country. Hispanics accounted for 40 percent of the population growth between the 1990 and 2000 Censuses, and the U.S. Hispanic population is expected to grow by more than 1.7 million people per year.

It should come as no surprise then that Hispanic-owned businesses are growing just as rapidly. Today, more than 30,000 companies in Illinois are owned by Hispanics, up more than 30 percent since 1997. The IRS predicts that one out of every 10 businesses will be Hispanic-owned by 2007, up from one of every 13 right now. “
