Chican@ Art Magazine: We are everywhere

Tagged: ,

“As Chican@ Art Magazine gears up for Sonia Romero’s first solo show –– aka her coming out party–– being held at Avenue 50 Studio September 9th, I got curious who else is empowering local artists. In big or small venues all over the US, there are Chicano, Latino, and Hispanic artists becoming more independant in September.

It doesn’t have to be a big gallery to empower Latino Artists. It can be regional groups like the The Ink People Center for the Arts in Eureka, California that opens “Si, Se Puede! Expressiones de la Cultura Latina,” on September 2nd. “Our art is meant to be transformational,” said Jamie Binder, exhibit organizer. “Painters like Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo felt art should be empowering.”
