Award-Winning Writer/Actor Rick Najera Brings New Comedy “Sweet 15 – Quinceañera’ To San Diego Repertory Theatre

“Rick Najera’s new comedy, Sweet 15 - Quinceañera, has been commissioned by San Diego REPertory Theatre and will be presented as a workshop run November 3-12, 2006. This will mark the fourth stage play at the REP for Najera, an award-winning writer (MAD TV, In Living Color), creator of ‘Latinologues on Broadway’ and Hispanic Business Magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential’. Sweet 15 - Quinceañera was created and written by San Diego native Rick Najera and will be directed by Sam Woodhouse, the REP’s Artistic Director.

“I am thrilled that San Diego REP once again has the opportunity to partner with Najera, one of the nation’s most imaginative writers of comedy,” says Woodhouse. “We are especially pleased to begin work with Rick on the latest project supported by San Diego REP’s Calafia Initiative, our long term effort to make new works of theatre that speak to the present and future of our binational region.” “
