“As rising crime rates continue to confound the Stockton Police Department, officials hope to see statistics in one category of reported crime - robberies of Latino men - increase. That is because it is a group that historically tends not to report crimes.

For about 18 months, the Police Department has teamed up with Spanish-language media and businesses to urge farm laborers to report robberies and other crimes. Since kicking off Latino Education About Law Enforcement Services, or LEALES, those numbers have gone up, though still at a slower rate than Stockton robberies generally.”
