Journal Register Company(NYSE:JRC) today announced it will launch a new edition of Registro,
Connecticut’s fastest-growing Spanish-language newspaper, to serve the greater
Waterbury, Danbury and Northwest Corner markets on August 11th, 2006. This
expansion will further Registro’s goal to provide quality local news and
advertising across Connecticut, both in print and online.

“The continued growth of Registro, and its website www.registroct.com, provides
Connecticut’s Spanish-speaking residents with a vibrant news source, both in
print and online,” said Kevin Walsh, Publisher of The New Haven Register, which
launched Registro in greater New Haven in April 2005, and added a second edition
serving the Hartford and New Britain markets soon after. “This latest expansion
will respond to reader and advertiser demands amidst the ever-growing Latino
market in Connecticut.”

With the new edition, Registro will continue to offer local news stories and
features produced by its independent editorial staff; comprehensive coverage of
state, national and world events; and Spanish-language classified advertising.

This expansion represents continued partnering with other Journal Register
Company publications including the Torrington-based Register-Citizen, the New
Milford-based Housatonic Publications, and The New Haven Register. “This
coordinated effort allows Registro to offer substantial depth and breadth in
its coverage, providing advertisers a dynamic vehicle to grow their
businesses,” said Wesley Rowe, Publisher of The Register-Citizen.
