“Data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau shows that Passaic County’s Hispanic population has jumped more than 14 percent since 2000, even as the overall population has shrunk slightly.

The new figures are part of the bureau’s latest American Community Survey, which estimates demographic characteristics for cities larger than 65,000 for the first time since the decennial census. The bureau bases its estimates on surveys collected last year, but it does not count individuals living in group quarters including correctional facilities, nursing homes and college dorms.”
