College workshops reach out to Hispanic families in Illinois

“Navigating the path to a college education is tough business for parents and students. Add a language barrier to the process, and you can imagine the intimidating situation many parents of college-bound Hispanic students face.

“They have no way of initiating a conversational understanding with their sons and daughters about college life and issues,” said Jorge Nieves, extension unit educator for the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service.”
