‘Minutemen’ protest illegal immigration at Cornelius day labor site. Oregon
Tagged: minutemen, population, protest“Some are taking to the streets of Cornelius to protest what they say are havens for illegal aliens. Salem’s Rick Hickey, vice president of Oregonians for Immigration Reform, said he and other “Minutemen,” such as Daniel Miglavs of Sherwood, will return Aug. 12 to protest the day labor site on 11th Avenue near Centro Cultural, 1110 N. Adair St.
They staged demonstrations at the site, unaffiliated with Centro, on Aug. 5 and Feb. 6.
Centro works with the city of Cornelius and social service agencies to assist west Washington County and Cornelius, estimated to have a 44 percent Latino population. Centro teaches classes and offers low-cost meals and programs, including hosting consulate generals of various countries.”
