“Allentown City Councilman Julio Guridy has quit colleague Louis Hershman’s ad hoc immigration committee in protest after attending its first meeting Monday night.
Guridy, the panel’s only Hispanic member, said the committee is counterproductive and has not produced any useful information.
Rather than producing statistics, Guridy said the committee seems more interested in eliciting support for Hershman’s proposed legislation, which would penalize landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and businesses that hire them.”
