“A city with one of the fastest-growing Hispanic populations in the area is adding a Spanish-speaking officer to the police force who will serve as a needed interpreter and as a community liaison, officials said.

The City Council voted Monday night to approve a new position of Hispanic liaison officer for the police department. The sergeant-level position will allow police officers better access to the Hispanic community and help improve relations with residents who speak little or no English, said David White, interim chief.”
