“Anthony Cruz, a former deputy mayor to the late Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham, will be appointed to fill a vacancy on the Jersey City school board, board members said.

“He’s a community person. He’s been out there,” board chairman William DeRosa said. “Plus half of student population is Hispanic.”
